When will my order ship? And when will it arrive?
We ship same day if ordered before 10 AM EST. As soon as its been shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email (to the email address you provided with your order) with your tracking information. Domestic orders ship via USPS Priority, and typically arrive within 2-3 days. To see more about international orders, check two questions down.
Which material is the best/strongest/most durable?
In all truth, each of the four main materials we use (carbon fiber, Kevlar/aramid, Pentex, and PET-X) are extremely durable. Each one wears differently and has different strengths. Carbon probably takes the longest to break in, and Pentex or PET-X would be the shortest, but that doesn’t mean Carbon will outlast the other two. Carbon is technically the strongest, but Kevlar is the one that dulls our blades and scissors. Both of those materials are known for having a super high stretch resistance where as Pentex and PET-X are specifically designed to withstand a lot of folding and flexing. In our professional opinion, you should choose based on which one you like the looks of the most, or you feel you can brag about the most, because really, they are all pretty darn awesome.
Do you ship internationally? And if so, what does it cost?
We have a really cool yet small (like us) distributor in the UK that carries a range of our gear. Depending on where you are and if they have the item you want, it might be more "local" (that's relative I know) and a smaller carbon impact to order from them. Check out Cutting Edge Carbon.
But otherwise, yes we do. We offer two international shipping options. When you create a shopping cart, your shipping options and prices will be calculated for your location. The economical option is First Class International, which for a wallet is typically $5 or less. This option does not come with tracking, and has no suggested arrival time, so once it leaves our hands, its location and arrival is out of our control. We have been informed by our customers that it takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on your location and customs. Although we are happy to ship First Class, we cannot be held responsible for lost or delayed shipments. The second option is Priority Mail, which is usually a minimum of $25. For that premium, you are given limited tracking capability and expedited arrival - typically within 2 weeks. Please keep in mind that with either shipping method, RAGGEDedge is not responsible for any duties or customs fees charged, and cannot be held liable for shipments that don't arrive because of customs hold ups and duties owed. Once it leaves our country, we can do very little to track it down. Also, we will not mark a package as a "gift" to save you money, as this is illegal.
Will my tablet/e-reader/phone/laptop fit in your iPad Sleeve/Kindle Sleeve/iPhone/laptop sleeve?
The short answer, is we don't know. What we do know, is that it fits what we made it to fit and what we say that it does fit, so our suggestion is that you look up the dimensions of the product it was built to protect, and see how yours compares. You might be surprised to find out that even snug fitting sleeves are probably at least an inch larger then the item it protects because there has to be room for our seam and the padding.
How come you guys don't make badge wallets out of carbon fiber and kevlar?
We would love to, but we have 2 challenges we have to figure out how to overcome. 1. Badges come in all different shapes, styles, and sizes and that means that we would have to make an insert for every single one BY HAND, we don't own a die cut machine because we don't need one for any other product we make and they are spendy. 2. That die cut edge, if cut out of carbon fiber or kevlar, would then need to be edged, and that is a really tight space for us to work in. If someday we can figure out solutions to these 2 hiccups, we would make you guys some bad ass badge wallets, because we know the world needs them. Trust that we're thinking about it
I know you used to make product X,Y or Z, how come I don't see it for sale on your website anymore? Are you going to make it again?
We are constantly updating our product selection. Much like a farmer culls their herd to get rid of the old and weak and improve their stock, keeping the ones that have the characteristics they want, we do the same for our product lineup. We are always trying new products, and letting some old products or designs that didn't sell that well or didn't work that well, sell out - never to return. We let that happen in order to make room (and have the time) to design and make the new things, which just might delight you more then anything else we've ever made. It's how we keep the awesome level high.
I’m kinda famous and definitely super connected and will get you tons of new customers once I get my hands on some of your gear, so can you hook me up with a discount?
The way we look at it, every single one of our customers past, present, and future, is kinda famous and super connected somehow and has the potential to get us tons of new customers if they like what they get. We actually depend on you guys to spread the good word. That said, we can’t afford to give everyone a discount. We know our gear isn’t cheap, but it isn’t cheap because it isn’t made in China, it's made here, made well, made by us, and made with US sourced materials. If you read our “About Us” page you’ll see that we’re a small homegrown company, we make everything we sell, and we’re doing our best to live personally and professionally with the health of our society’s future in mind. We work hard to impress you guys with our gear and by providing the best customer service that we can – because we wouldn’t want to be in business any other way. A huge part of what enables us to do that, is that fact that we’re small, but being small means that we don’t have brand recognition and a huge marketing budget, which is where you guys come in. A paid ad is nothing in comparison to a heartfelt personal recommendation or a review from one of you. And, you can feel good knowing that you’ve supported a fellow human (us) and helped someone else find some awesome gear that they wouldn’t have otherwise known about. So, long story short, we can’t offer you a discount, but what we can do is make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing you did something good for this world.
Do you have other colorways of products you just haven't posted yet?
As cool as it would be if we did, we don't have a super secret special stash of products that aren't available for sale online. We are constantly updating our website with our current inventory. Within a couple of days of making a new product or a new color of an existing product, we take pictures and get them posted. So what you see on here is really what we have. Promise.
Do you make custom gear?
The quick answer is, not anymore. Designing products is very time intensive and as we've grown, we've realized that that time is best spent designing new products for our lineup, rather then one of a kind pieces. Even custom colors and slight tweaks of our designs are not an option unless you plan on ordering in quantity.
What is sailcloth anyways?
Sailcloth is the material they use to make sails out of for sailboats. Commonly sailcloth is known to be white and sort of canvas like, this material is called Dacron. We use Dacron occasionally as our pockets and/or trim. The cloths we use for our main bag and wallet parts are high tech laminates designed for the performance sailing world (think Olympics, America’s Cup, and the Around the World Race).
Can you compare one of your sailcloth wallets to an All-ett wallet?
Really that is a comparison of apples and oranges. Although they are both sailcloth, they aren’t really related in any other way. All-ett wallets are made out of spinnaker cloth, which is a type of sailcloth as well. It is extremely thin, and although strong for its relative weight, not really designed to hold up to the every day wear and tear of being a wallet. We use spin cloth in a wallet, but we use it solely as the trim for the inside pockets and the lining for the bill pocket. The structural integrity of the wallet does not rely on it at all.
I have a LOT of cards, which wallet holds the most?
By request - we now have three super capacity wallets in our lineup: The Oakley trifold, the MEGA-fold bifold, and the Hipster.
How come this carbon fiber doesn't look like any other carbon fiber I'm familiar with?
The call sign of carbon fiber is that tight square weave of grayish blackish fibers, typically seen with a hard glossy finish. The actual carbon fiber is the fibers that make up that weave. Carbon fiber sailcloth uses strands of carbon fiber in less density and then encases the weave in a flexible UV resistant resin which makes it impervious to water and appear black and glossy.
How come the dimensions of your wallets are a little bit bigger then seems necessary?
Because of the way we construct the wallets with the edging and triple step zig zag stitch, we have to make the wallets a little taller and a little wider then a wallet that is just straight stitched around the outside.
Where is all this stuff made? And who makes it?
All of our products are made right here in our workroom in Stuart, Virginia, USA by us. No part of our production is outsourced. We also source our materials from as close to home as possible. Our sailcloth comes from Dimension-Polyant and Challenge, which both have production mills located in Connecticut. We are very much a small scale "Made in the USA" manufacturer.
